Automotive Parts Cleaners |

These cleaners are used for removing grease, carbon and resin-like
coatings from automotive engine parts such as carburetors, valves and
other functional rods, gears, etc. It is current practice to lower the
parts to be cleaned into the cleaning solution in an oversized 5-gal
pail, using a perforated basket. Loss of the volatile ingredients is
kept to a minimum by a water blanket which floats on the heavier solvent
layer. Formulations therefore must contain sufficient chlorinat |

Instead of using a tall-oil/alkali premix, the formulator can add the potassium hydroxide solution to the water and the tall oil to the solvent mix to give across-the-boundary neutralization. |
